Strong winds stir the sky.
These clouds will produce no rain.
They’ll play with the sun.

She reads her haiku:
They are wonderful! I'm pleased
We share the impulse.

Watching a flock

Pendleton haiku.....
I drive east, thinking,
Fifteen years ago there was
No overpass art.

Twelve stick balls, spked by
Tree branches. The heron profiles
Rise from their nests.

Lilacs have the warm
Scent of nostalgia. I think
Of my grandmother.

2010

Glowing cave of drooping green,
Glistening with rain.

The ginkgo leaf fans,
Embroidered with bright moonstones:
No wind shakes the drops.
